Derek A. French
P.Eng., CLS, PEILS, MCIP
Derek is an engineer, planner, and surveyor. He has been working in these fields for over thirty years. Derek is a key member of the Sandstone team by managing day-to-day operations and providing personal professional service to clients. Derek started Derek A. French Professional Services in 2011 and has grown the company steadily through providing land surveying and engineering services in PEI and is excited to help lead the Sandstone team in the same manner.

Josh Beaton
P.Eng., CPT
Josh is a professional engineer and worked with Derek A. French Professional Services from 2014 to 2023 before starting Sandstone Surveying and Engineering. His primary roles with the company are consulting clients, managing staff, and completing technical design work. His day-to-day can vary from being in the office designing subdivisions, drafting legal surveys, to doing on-site consulting for approvals from the Province or Municipality. He has successfully been a part of running his own property development company since 2018 and is key in managing the direction of Sandstone Surveying and Engineering.
Joël Legault
P.Eng.
Joël is a professional engineer and worked with Derek A. French Professional Services from 2018 to 2023 upon graduating from the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Joël’s roles with Sandstone include designing civil engineering plans as well as drainage/site plans, drafting legal surveys, communicating with clients, and providing project management services.
Riley Callaghan
PEILS, EIT
Riley graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Science in Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering in 2018 and began his career in Guelph, Ontario the same year. Riley relocated to his home province in late 2020 to work with Derek A. French Professional Services and furthered his career to become a Licensed Land Surveyor in the province of Prince Edward Island in March of 2023. Riley is also working towards his Professional Engineer designation.
Mason MacDougall
EIT
Mason graduated from the University of New Brunswick in May of 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and started full time employment with the team at Derek A. French Professional Services. He has worked with Derek A. French Professional Services to perform municipal engineering and construction inspection as well as topographical and legal surveys.
Caleb Boswall
Caleb is scheduled to graduate from the University of Prince Edward Island in May of 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Design Engineering. He has worked as a student with Derek A. French Professional Services since 2022 and will continue the same role with Sandstone in 2024.
Crosby Andrews
Crosby worked as a student with Derek A French Professional Services since 2023. He’s currently pursuing engineering at Acadia University and will return to work as a Student with Sandstone in 2024.
